Crawlux launches Token Schema Tester with CoinGecko and Etherscan cross-checks

Free tool validates token page schema against FinancialProduct spec, then cross-checks the data against CoinGecko market data and Etherscan contract metadata. Three failure modes surfaced from 47 beta tests.

LONDON · MARCH 17, 2026

Crawlux today launches the Token Schema Tester, a free standalone tool that validates a crypto token's on-page schema against the FinancialProduct specification and cross-checks the data against CoinGecko and Etherscan.

The tool accepts a token page URL, parses the schema, validates required and recommended fields, then verifies the schema data matches public sources. It catches three common failure modes: missing required fields, fields present but malformed and fields that contradict CoinGecko or Etherscan data.

Three findings emerged from beta testing across 47 token pages. First, 38 pages declared a currency code that did not match the CoinGecko-listed ticker. Second, 22 pages cited an annual percentage rate that exceeded the on-chain rate by more than 200 basis points. Third, 9 pages used Product schema, which fails validation entirely for financial assets.

The most common ticker mismatch is the v1/v2 confusion. A page lists "category":"USDC" but the underlying contract is a wrapped USDC variant on a sidechain. CoinGecko tracks both separately. The tester flags the mismatch and points to the canonical ticker the page should declare. Tokens with bridged variants need explicit sameAs declarations linking the chain-specific variants.

The APR cross-check addresses a known crypto site failure mode: stale schema data. Teams declare an APR in schema once at launch. The rate moves with the market while the schema continues to show the stale number for months. The tester surfaces the delta. Sites that auto-pull APR from their own API into schema typically pass the check. Sites that hand-edit the schema typically fail within 30 days of launch.

The tool is free with no signup. Each domain gets 5 token checks per day. Validation runs in 3 to 4 seconds per token, including the CoinGecko and Etherscan round-trips. Results are returned with severity per finding and a copy-paste-ready JSON-LD fix block for each failure.

When the tester flags a failure, the result page generates a copy-paste-ready JSON-LD block that fixes the specific failure. Teams apply the fix, re-run the test (no rate limit on re-runs of the same domain within an hour) and see the schema pass within minutes. For multi-token sites with the same failure pattern repeated, the Crawlux Pro audit runs the same checks across all tokens in one pass and exports a fix-list CSV that engineering can ship in a single PR.

The Token Schema Tester joins the AI Citation Checker and Crypto SEO Grader in the free-tools suite at crawlux.com/free-tools. A Crawlux Pro audit covers Token Schema validation alongside the other 22 analyzers in the audit pipeline, plus monitoring (the tester runs once per request; Pro re-tests weekly and alerts on schema drift).

The validator is open about its rule set. The full 14-field check list, the cross-check sources and severity weights are published at crawlux.com/blog/crawlux-methodology so teams can audit themselves before submitting to Crawlux.

Take

Schema accuracy is now an AI citation signal. If your token schema says 8.5% APR and CoinGecko says 4.2%, AI engines will cite CoinGecko, not you.
