How much you earn

Commission applies on first 12 months only

Crawlux audits are one-time per-domain purchases ($25 Pro / $49 Team). Commission applies on first 12 months of customer activity. A single customer running 10 audits in their first year generates 10 commission events for the affiliate.

Section 02
// How credit works

Attribution rules

When a referred user clicks your affiliate link, a cookie is set in their browser that tracks the referral for 60 days. Attribution defaults to last-click within the window. The rules below cover edge cases.

01

60-day cookie window

Referral cookie lasts 60 days from first click. If the user purchases within that window in the same browser, attribution succeeds. Cookie clearing or different browsers break attribution.

02

Last-click wins

If a user clicks multiple affiliate links within the window, the most recent click receives credit. The cookie updates on each affiliate link click within the same browser session.

03

Coupon code attribution

Affiliates with custom coupon codes get attribution when the customer applies the code at checkout. Coupon-based attribution overrides cookie-based attribution at conversion.

04

Self-referrals not eligible

Affiliates cannot earn commission on their own purchases or purchases by businesses they own or control. Self-referral attempts are flagged automatically and trigger commission reversal plus program review.

05

Existing customer rule

Affiliate links work for new customers only. Existing customer accounts (anyone with a prior signup) do not generate commission for new affiliate referrals.

06

Reseller priority

If the customer was previously attributed to a reseller account, the reseller relationship takes precedence over affiliate cookies. Affiliate links to reseller-attributed accounts do not generate commission.

Section 03
// Money flow

Payout schedule

Commissions accrue throughout the month and become eligible for payout once the customer's refund window closes. Payouts are processed monthly on the 15th. The timeline below shows the typical journey from referral click to deposit.

Day 0Click and cookieUser clicks affiliate link. 60-day attribution cookie set in browser.
Day NConversionUser signs up and completes a paid purchase within the 60-day window. Commission accrues at pending status.
Day N+30Refund window closesCustomer's 30-day refund window expires. Commission moves from pending to confirmed status.
15th of next monthPayout processedAll confirmed commissions above the $100 minimum threshold paid out via Stripe Connect or PayPal.
3-5 business daysFunds depositedStandard banking timeline for funds to land in your account. International payouts may take 7-10 days.

If your confirmed commissions for a given month total under $100, the balance carries forward to the next month. Once cumulative balance crosses $100, payout processes on the next 15th. Balances accumulate without expiry.

Tax responsibility on the affiliate

Affiliates are responsible for declaring and paying tax on commission income in their local jurisdiction. Crawlux issues 1099 forms for US affiliates earning above $600 annually. Other jurisdictions may require self-reporting.

Section 04
// Promotion rules

What you can and cannot do

The affiliate program rewards genuine recommendations to people who would benefit from Crawlux. Methods that deceive the customer, abuse the brand or violate consumer protection rules are prohibited and trigger commission forfeiture.

Encouraged methods

  • Honest reviews on your blog or YouTube channel
  • Tutorial content showing Crawlux in real audit workflows
  • Comparison content versus other audit tools
  • Newsletter mentions with a clear affiliate disclosure
  • Twitter or LinkedIn threads about Crawlux features
  • Podcast or YouTube show sponsorship segments
  • Coupon code distribution to your audience

Prohibited methods

  • Unsolicited email spam or cold email blasts
  • Paid search bidding on Crawlux brand keywords
  • Misleading ad copy or trademark violations
  • Fake reviews or fabricated testimonials
  • Comment spam on forums, Reddit or social media
  • Coupon site listings without prior authorization
  • Self-purchases or referrals to controlled businesses

Enforcement consequences

Violations result in commission forfeiture for affected referrals plus a warning. Repeat violations lead to program termination and existing pending commission cancellation. Severe violations (fraud, trademark abuse) trigger immediate termination without warning.

Section 05
// Required disclosures

FTC and disclosure requirements

Affiliates must disclose the affiliate relationship in promotional content. This is a legal requirement under FTC Endorsement Guides in the US, EU consumer protection rules in Europe and similar laws elsewhere. Required disclosures protect both the affiliate and the customer.

Acceptable

Standard disclosure example

"Disclosure: I earn a commission if you sign up through this link. I only recommend tools I actually use." Clear, prominent, proximate to the affiliate link. Visible without clicking through expanders or footers.

Insufficient

What does not count

Hidden disclosure in page footer. Disclosure behind a "more" link. Disclosure on a different page. Vague terms like "partner" or "sponsor" without explaining the financial relationship. Disclosure only in the URL or hashtag.

  • Twitter and LinkedIn: include "#ad" or "#affiliate" prominently in the post text, not just hashtags at the end
  • YouTube and TikTok: verbal disclosure in the first 30 seconds plus written disclosure in the description
  • Instagram: paid partnership label plus written disclosure in the caption
  • Blog posts: disclosure at the top of the post, before the first affiliate link
  • Newsletters: disclosure in each email containing affiliate links, not just the welcome email
  • Podcast: verbal disclosure during the read, plus written disclosure in show notes
Section 06
// Ending the relationship

Termination and changes

Either party can terminate the affiliate relationship at any time. Termination effects depend on which party initiated and the reason. Pending commissions are handled per the rules below.

Affiliate exit

Voluntary termination

Affiliates can leave the program at any time via the dashboard. Pending and confirmed commissions are paid out on the next regular payout cycle. Future referrals stop generating credit.

Crawlux exit

Crawlux-initiated termination

Crawlux can terminate any affiliate relationship for cause (rule violation, fraud) or without cause (program changes). Confirmed commissions are still paid. Pending commissions reviewed case-by-case.

For-cause

For-cause termination

Severe rule violations including fraud or trademark abuse trigger immediate termination plus pending commission forfeiture. Already-paid commissions are not clawed back unless tied to fraudulent referrals.

Crawlux reserves the right to modify the affiliate program terms (commission rate, cookie window, eligible products) with 30 days notice. Changes apply only to commissions accruing after the effective date. Existing pending commissions calculate at the rate in effect when the referral occurred.

// Affiliate FAQ

Common affiliate questions

Six questions covering earnings, attribution, payouts, prohibited methods, disclosure requirements and commission revocation.

How much can I earn as a Crawlux affiliate?

Affiliates earn 25 percent commission on the first 12 months of any new customer signup attributed to their referral link. For Pro tier ($25 one-time per domain audit) that is $6.25 per audit. For Team tier ($49 per audit with white-label) that is $12.25 per audit. High-volume affiliates can negotiate higher rates via [email protected].

What is the attribution window?

Attribution uses a 60-day last-click cookie window. The customer who clicks an affiliate link gets a cookie that lasts 60 days. If they purchase within that window through any device with the same browser session, the affiliate gets credit. Attribution defaults to the most recent affiliate link clicked within the window.

When and how do I get paid?

Payouts are processed monthly on the 15th for commissions earned in the previous month. Minimum payout threshold is $100. Below that, balance carries forward. Payments via Stripe Connect to bank account or via PayPal. International payouts in the local equivalent. Payment delays of up to 30 days are possible for high-risk fraud reviews.

What promotion methods are prohibited?

Prohibited methods include unsolicited email spam, paid search bidding on Crawlux brand keywords, misleading ad copy, fake reviews, comment spam, content that violates the acceptable use policy and any method requiring deception of the prospective customer. Violations result in commission forfeiture and program termination.

Do I need to disclose the affiliate relationship?

Yes. Affiliates must disclose the affiliate relationship in any promotional content per FTC guidelines, EU consumer protection rules and other applicable regulations. Standard disclosures like "I earn a commission if you sign up through this link" are sufficient. Disclosure must be clear, prominent and proximate to the affiliate link.

Can my commission be revoked?

Commissions can be revoked in three cases: customer refund within the refund window (commission reverses automatically), fraudulent referrals (self-purchases or fake accounts) and violations of the promotion rules. Legitimate commissions become permanent 30 days after the customer's refund window closes.
