LONDON · MARCH 31, 2026
Crawlux today launches AEO Test, a free tool that measures a crypto domain's AI engine visibility across 47 vertical-specific prompts. The tool extends the AI Citation Checker, which uses 12 calibrated prompts, by going deeper across more crypto verticals at higher prompt density per vertical.
The 47-prompt set covers DeFi (lending, perpetuals, spot DEX, options), staking (liquid, native, restaking), NFT (marketplaces, collections, GameFi), wallets (custodial, self-custody, smart account, hardware), infrastructure (oracles, bridges, indexers, RPC), stablecoins (collateralized, algorithmic, payment-focused), centralized exchanges, layer-1 chains and layer-2 chains. Each vertical has 3-5 prompts covering head, body and tail intent.
Each prompt was nominated by at least 3 of 7 panel testers who asked it organically while researching the vertical in the prior 90 days. Same calibration methodology used for the AI Citation Checker. Prompt versioning is quarterly. The full prompt set is published at crawlux.com/blog/crawlux-methodology so users can audit prompt fairness before trusting the score.
Output is an AEO score on a 0-100 scale, broken down by vertical and by AI engine. Plus the specific prompts where the domain wins or loses citations, with example competitor domains that got cited instead. Sites get a detailed report showing which prompts they currently rank for, which they are close to ranking for and which they have no presence on.
Beta data is grim. 156 crypto sites ran through AEO Test during a 2-week beta period. 122 (78%) scored below 20/100. 27 (17%) scored between 20 and 50. Only 7 sites (5%) scored above 50. Median AEO score across the cohort: 11/100. Top performer: a DeFi lending protocol with strict FinancialProduct schema discipline and 47 audit firm citations, scoring 73/100.
Each IP gets up to 10 AEO Tests per day at no cost. The tool returns results in 4 minutes median; running 47 prompts across 3 engines requires substantially more compute than the 12-prompt Citation Checker. Crawlux Pro subscribers get unlimited tests, weekly monitoring with diffs and prompt-level alerts when scores move by more than 5 points.
AEO Test joins the free-tools suite at crawlux.com/free-tools alongside the AI Citation Checker, the Token Schema Tester and the Crypto SEO Grader. The four tools share underlying methodology and feed into the paid Crawlux Pro audit for teams that want continuous monitoring.
For agencies and in-house teams, the score correlates strongly with downstream business outcomes. Beta participants who moved their AEO score from below 20 to above 40 within 60 days saw an average 4.2x increase in AI-engine-referred traffic to their site. The conversion rate of AI-referred traffic was 27% higher than Google-referred traffic in the same window, likely because AI engines pre-qualify users before sending them to the destination. The leading hypothesis: ChatGPT users arriving on a protocol page have already received a structured explanation; they land with intent, not curiosity.
Take
78% of tested crypto sites score below 20 out of 100 for AI visibility. The market for AEO wins is wide open. Most crypto teams have not started yet.
